Puppy Pals’ Dog Boarding Style

PUPPY PALS uniquely creates a wholesome, low-stress home-away-from-home for your dog while he/she is here.  The main elements of PUPPY PALS’ boarding style are:

  • Friendly, well-socialized dogs in small compatible play groups
  • Lots of outdoors time and space to run and play
  • Separation for eating and sleeping
  • An active but structured daily routine
  • Human interaction in a home-like environment
Friendly, Well-Socialized Dogs in Small Compatible Play Groups

Dogs are very social animals.  They like nothing better than to spend time with other friendly dogs and people, investigating new sights & smells and engaging in entertaining & stimulating activities.

PUPPY PALS welcomes medium-to-large sized dogs with friendly well-socialized temperaments.  Our campers must be universally friendly with all dogs and people to preclude separation from the remainder of the group.

With our social grouping, PUPPY PALS creates small playgroups of dogs who share similar energy levels, play styles and personalities.  This provides safe social and play opportunities without the stressful dynamics of a larger pack.

Loads of Outdoors Time and Space to Run and Play

PUPPY PALS’ campers enjoy a full ten hours a day of outdoors play in our expansive fenced Play Fields with the other dogs in their group, plus backyard mountain hike adventures.  When tired, they rest on comfortable dog hammocks on our breezy covered porches.  Whether the dogs are chasing rabbits through the hills, playing games of tag or ball in our ample play-yards, or simply lounging on the porch, there's plenty of space for gregarious play plus peaceful relaxation.

Separation for Eating and Sleeping

Though offering a social environment for the dogs is essential to providing wholesome boarding, giving each dog their own individual "den" during mealtimes and at night for sleeping is just as important.  Like their cousins in the wild, dogs take great security in having their own cozy den.

PUPPY PALS feeds the dogs in extra-large sized den-like crates to ensure their comfort and privacy during mealtimes.  And after a day filled with lots of stimulating activity, they crave a den-like security for sleeping.  PUPPY PALS offers private dog bedrooms with a favorite K9 sleeping buddy in our Main and Guest Houses.  Most campers, much to their owners’ surprise, prefer returning to their Field House mealtime crates for night slumber.  With either option, the PALS sleep on thick, comfortable bedding in temperature controlled housing.  The morning sunrise peeking through the east windows of all the night accommodations alerts the PALS to a new day of fun and play!

An Active but Structured Daily Routine

Like people, dogs feel most secure when their day is active but has a familiar routine.  By the second or third day of their stay, a canine guest that is new to PUPPY PALS is already anticipating the next activity, be it hike, play, nap or mealtime.  Our daily routine provides a natural balance of exercise, rest, nourishment and socialization.  (See "A Day at the Dog Boarding Ranch")

Human Interaction in a Home-Like Environment

Incorporating home-like elements into the boarding environment is the cornerstone of PUPPY PALS Ranch's dog care philosophy.  This occurs naturally since our lovely Ranch is the residence of Lynn, the owner, which she acquired solely to share with a small number of canine guests.  As a result, the atmosphere, activities and ambience are all very home-like.

The dog staff plays, bathes, feeds and interacts with the PALS throughout the day, with background classical music soothing both human and canine souls.  And the hustle and bustle of the grounds and cleaning crews only further adds to the similarity of our PALS’ typical home environments.

The Ranch is open and airy, with no sounds beyond those we create on our own.  The kitchen's a favorite, producing premium lamb and rice kibble meals plus daily grilled meat treats and nap & bedtime biscuits.  Each dog receives plenty of love and personal attention, both from the dog staff who direct their activities plus the Ranch support team who offer kind words and smiles.  Far from the stresses of a traditional noisy kennel, PUPPY PALS Ranch is truly a comfortable, happy home which our campers adore visiting!
